DGL Communications

A native of Columbus, Georgia, Danita Gibson Lloyd is a veteran business professional with expertise in public relations/communications strategy/marketing and personal finance. She is a graduate of Clemson University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with minors in Speech and Dramatic Arts and Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism with a Master of Science degree.  Danita has extensive experience in marketing, corporate communications, crisis communication, corporate speech writing, strategy planning, fund raising, theatre arts, and personal care home administration.  

 

A voice-over artist for radio, television commercials and independent productions, she serves as the Marketing/Public Relations Director of the Urban League of Greater Columbus as well as a Board Member and member of the Executive Board. She also proudly serves on the Steering Committee for the Bob Wright Symposium on Business Excellence, Organizer of the Bob Wright Black Business Roundtable, The College Fund Steering Committee, Creator and Organizer of Rhapsody in Bloom Jazz in the Garden, Communications Strategist for The Courier Eco Latino Group and a Board Member for the Hardaway High School Alumni Association. Danita has served as an adjunct faculty member for Columbus Technical College, San Diego City College, Miller Mott Technical College, Columbus State University and University of Phoenix. Formerly, she served as Corporate Communications Director and corporate spokesperson for TSYS for 15 years. 

 

When Danita is not acting in a consulting capacity with DGL Communications, she serves as a Military Instructor at Fort Benning, facilitating personal financial management courses for soldiers in Basic Training. Just prior to joining Columbus Botanical Garden, she served as Director/COO/CMO of Peaceful River Residential Services which provides 24/7 care in a home setting to veterans and/or their dependents and the developmentally disabled. 

 

In Danita's rare moments of solitude, she enjoys researching her family’s ancestry, reading a good book and spending time with family and friends.
